Heaven Touching Earth – The God Who Comes Down: Genesis 28:10–22
Fleeing his brother’s wrath and the consequences of his own deception, Jacob sets out alone into the wilderness with nothing but a stone for a pillow.
In this episode, we explore Genesis 28:10–22 — the unforgettable vision at Bethel, where Jacob dreams of a ladder stretching from earth to heaven, with angels ascending and descending upon it.
At the top stands the Lord Himself, reaffirming the covenant promise first given to Abraham, and offering Jacob words he never earned: “I am with you… I will not leave you.”
We trace Jacob’s awe-filled response, his transformation of a humble stone into a sacred pillar, and his still-imperfect, bargaining faith.
But the heart of this episode is where this ancient vision leads us: to Jesus, who tells Nathanael that He Himself is the true ladder between heaven and earth — the meeting place of God and humanity. Jacob’s Bethel was a glimpse; Christ is the fulfilment. Wherever you find yourself in exile today, this episode is a reminder that God comes down to meet us long before we’ve climbed anywhere near Him.
