When Giants Stand in the Valley: 1 Samuel 17
In this bonus episode, we step into the Valley of Elah for one of Scripture’s most familiar stories — and discover it’s about far more than a brave boy and a big man.
For forty days Goliath’s taunts have paralysed Israel’s army, and even King Saul is frozen with fear. Then a shepherd boy arrives on an errand for his father, hears the giant’s challenge, and asks a different question: not “how big is he?” but “who is my God?” We follow David past the doubters, through Saul’s ill-fitting armour, and into the valley with nothing but a sling and unshakeable trust that “the battle is the Lord’s.” But David was never the true hero — he points beyond himself to a greater Shepherd-King, Jesus, who faced a far darker valley for us. Wherever your giant is standing today, this episode invites you to look past it, to him.
